Greetings all…
I recently received a mysterious invite to a new “social “networking site called Artaculous. After putting off visiting the site for a few days I took a look and was quite pleased to find a group of professional’s sharing their expertise.
I now have a profile page there that you all can visit at this address-http://artaculous.com/pg/profile/thunderpuppy
More importantly to me, it has allowed me to create the sites first “Native American Traditional Painting and Art” discussion and promotion group, which I am sure to post pieces of on this news page as well. I am sure you all know that I have always been inspired by the traditional classic Native artists starting with the Kiowa Five and I look forward to promoting the classic styles as well as the contemporary styles of our newest generation of Native Fine Artists.
I hope, as well, that sharing and educating others about our traditional artistic roots might stem off the glut of ticky-tacky, airy-fairy, non-native paintings of dark skinned Barbie dolls posed half naked with wolves that have recently become representative of “Native” paintings on the market. I do try to keep an open mind about all forms of art, but I must admit that this has become quite a pet peeve of mine in the past few years!
Perhaps most important of all, I am inspired to return to the creation of a new Native Arts and Culture Association project that seems to be so badly needed for us all (buyers and artists). I remain open to all your input regarding this project and welcome your comments here as well.
Until next time…
